Last Sunday I was “Mensch of the Week” at my synagogue.

My teacher invited my family to visit our “Mensch Circle” in our classroom. Even my grandparents came and joined in our circle on the floor.

My teacher, Morah Hannah, stood up and told everyone I was a real ”mensch”, a person who did the right thing, even when no one was looking…

On Monday I went to school, still thinking about being a mensch and what it meant.

It was still on my mind as I worked on my report about penguins in science.

And then I began to wonder…
